The Property Tax Working Group met on Nov. 14 to finalize its report to the Legislature. The group voted unanimously to accept the draft report and transmit it to the Legislature.

Among the recommendations are ideas for streamlining the assessment calendar, reducing the number of property classifications, and making more information about city and county budgets available on the Internet. The group’s chair will send the report to the new tax chairs in the House and Senate.

The Property Tax Working Group was established by the Minnesota Legislature in 2010. It was created to examine ways to simplify and improve the state's property tax system.
