(June 16, 2011—St. Paul, Minn.) Alexandria Mayor H. Dan Ness was elected today to serve as the President of the League of Minnesota Cities for 2011-2012. The election was held in Rochester at the League’s Annual Conference.
Mayor Ness served as First Vice President of the League for 2010-2011. Additionally, he has previously served as President of the Minnesota Mayors Association and the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. Ness has been mayor of Alexandria for the past 10 years, and also worked as Fire Department chief for seven years.
The League of Minnesota Cities is a nonprofit, membership organization dedicated to helping cities throughout Minnesota build quality communities through effective advocacy, expert analysis, trusted guidance, and collective action. The League serves its more than 830 members through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services.
