The League of Minnesota Cities is a membership organization dedicated to promoting excellence in local government. The League serves its more than 800 member cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services.

A recent survey conducted for the League of Minnesota Cities shows that an overwhelming majority of city residents in the state—no matter where they live—recognize city government as an important contributor to quality of life. Officials from the cities of Hoyt Lakes, South St. Paul, Pine City, and North St. Paul received C.C. Ludwig and Leadership Awards at the League Annual Conference on June 12. In addition, the cities of Breezy Point, Luverne, Sartell, and Woodbury received City of Excellence Awards.

Elected officials interested in serving as a Trustee to the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) have until Dec. 12, 2008, to apply as a candidate for the appointment. The LMCIT Board of Trustees is the governing body of the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. Some of the responsibilities of Trustees include overall management and policy direction, setting premium rates, deciding on dividends, establishing the budget for in-house operations, overseeing investments, and approving coverage changes.
