Minnesota Mayors Association 2014 Annual Conference

Civility: The Indispensable Role of Mayors

April 25-26
Bigwood Best Western Event Center
Fergus Falls, MN

Incivility at the local level─–whether at a city council meeting, in a local newspaper, among residents, or elsewhere─–can lead to mistrust and hinder our ability to productively solve problems for our residents. But what is the role of the mayor in helping to restore and maintain civility at city hall and in the community? How can mayors not only mend the fences, but also prevent future incidents?

The 2014 MMA Annual conference will give you the opportunity to:

  • Understand the unique and vital role that mayors play in restoring and maintaining civility not only at city hall, but throughout the community.
  • Hear remarks from Chris Coleman, St. Paul Mayor and President of the National League of Cities
  • Learn about state historic preservation programs from Stephen Elliot, Executive Director of the Minnesota Historical Society; see historical preservation in action throughout Fergus Falls
  • Enjoy the arts scene of Fergus Falls
  • Network and share insights with other mayors from around the state
  • Participate in the MMA annual meeting

This weekend of events is the perfect opportunity to discuss your challenges and successes with others who have been in your shoes!
