Each generation of Minnesotans has been shaped by waves of new immigrants. A 2007 League survey of cities showed that due to new immigrant populations, 12 percent of Minnesota cities over 1,500 population were experiencing community changes "to a great degree." More than half said they were experiencing changes "to some degree."
These "community changes" can take many forms and can be both beneficial and frustrating for new immigrants and long-standing residents alike.
