In light of the very destructive tornadoes that caused catastrophic damage in Oklahoma this week, Minnesota cities may seek to provide emergency assistance.
It is important to understand that cities should never self-deploy. Rather, the city should only send resources through some coordinated effort to provide the resources that are actually needed.
Assistance should only be provided pursuant to a written agreement that addresses liability, employee injuries, damage to property, and reimbursement.
