Dept. of Revenue Seeks Input from Local Government

Participate in a Nov. 14 electronic session to give your ideas on how to increase the state government’s efficiency.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue (DOR) wants to know your ideas on how to make Minnesota state government better, faster, simpler, and more efficient. To that end, the DOR is hosting an electronic town hall listening session for local governments at 8 a.m. on Nov. 14.

Your feedback and suggestions will be used to help design customer-focused improvements in preparation for the 2014 “Unsession,” an initiative by Gov. Dayton’s administration intended to make state government simpler and more efficient.

Although tax laws and the real world can be complicated, the DOR says it is continually seeking ways to meet taxpayer needs in ways that are easy to understand and simple to use. The best solutions are ones that are designed based on input from users. The DOR is asking that you reflect upon the steps you take to comply with state tax obligations—such as the forms you fill out, the systems you use to file and pay, and the information sources you draw upon to understand the law—and consider how those tools might be made more helpful or streamlined.
