For the 2013 State Legislative session, the League’s Friday Facts will be replaced with a newsfeed, entitled Third Reading.
(Published Dec 10, 2012)
The League's Third Reading newsfeed has the capability to provide real-time legislative updates for members and other interested stakeholders. Updates from the Capitol will be provided by intergovernmental relations staff.
Why are we calling it “Third Reading?”
It is a term used in the legislative process when a bill is debated on the floor in its final form with all committee and floor amendments added. The final vote is taken by the chamber after the third reading of the bill. The title not only reflects a common legislative term, but is intended to reflect the attentive and complete consideration of legislative happenings related to their potential influence on Minnesota cities.
Why are we eliminating Friday Facts?
Third Reading is designed to deliver information to members in an up-to-the-minute fashion in lieu of waiting until the end of the week for pertinent information affecting cities. Additionally, we encourage open discussion on all of our posts in our comment section found at the end of each post.
Don’t forget to bookmark Third Reading at www.lmc.org/3R to receive the latest legislative information!

The League is here to advocate on behalf of cities, but it is important for cities to also tell their stories.
