Fire
Citizens in communities throughout Minnesota benefit from the services provided by fire departments. Regardless of how a community receives fire protection—whether from volunteers, full-time paid firefighters, or a combination—many cities face a set of issues related to management and liability issues that are unique to fire departments.
The League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT), in conjunction with the Minnesota State Fire Department Association, the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, and the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters, developed during 2005 a self-contained training kit to help address these issues. Materials from those sessions, as well as other resources, are available here.

NFPA Staffing and Response Standards
Your LMC Resource
A self-contained training kit is available on fire department management and liability issues. Topics covered in the 40-minute DVD include NFPA and response-time standards, fire relief associations and fire department checkbooks, alcohol response policies, alcohol sales for fundraising, sexual harassment prevention, physical fitness testing, and mutual aid. Handouts are included. The program was developed by LMCIT with the Minnesota State Fire Department Association, Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association and the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters Association.
