The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) will hold two workshops around the state in June 2013 to provide details about the agency’s Redevelopment Grant Program.
The program has both general fund and state bonding dollars available to help communities offset the costs of redeveloping blighted properties. Workshops are scheduled for Lakeville and Wadena. The workshops are designed to provide valuable information about the Redevelopment Grant Program, highlighting what types of projects are eligible and which will compete well for grant funds. Presenters will also speak briefly about the Demolition Loan Program, which will be available during the February 2014 application round.
The program helps cities, counties, and other units of government pay for up to 50 percent of the cost of land acquisition, demolition, infrastructure and other project-related improvements related to redeveloping blighted property.
The deadline for applying for the next round of funding is 4 p.m. on Aug. 1.
