The deadlines establish a timeline for the completion of the Legislature’s work.
(Published Jan 28, 2013)
A Jan. 18 memorandum issued by House Speaker Paul Thissen (DFL-Minneapolis) and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) indicates the House and Senate leadership have agreed on committee deadlines for the 2013 legislative session. They are as follows:
Joint Rules require the Legislature to establish deadlines for each regular session. The first deadline is for committees to act favorably on bills in the house of origin. The second deadline is for committees to act favorably on bills, or companions of bills, that met the first deadline in the other house. The third deadline is for the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance to act favorably on major appropriation and finance bills.
